I am David Kuhn, a 62 year old blind grandfather of four, who is running 11,000 miles around the perimeter states of the USA. My motivation to do this comes from my 12 year old granddaughter, Kylie, who has cystic fibrosis. That I am blind, as with the many marathons I run, I cannot do this alone. I will need sighted running/walking guides. Thus, this run can only happen as the result of a team effort. Cystic fibrosis is a hideous genetic disease. 1 in 29 people carry one mutation of the cf gene. Its victims have an average life expectancy of 35 years. She may reach her life expectancy before I reach mine, and her years will be much harder and more painful. Kylie and I need you.
I don’t know how many nails it will take to build a coffin for cf and bury it. But, if I can add just one more to the count, it’ll be a good life. If I can extend the life of my granddaughter by one day, times the many thousands of those born with this disease, … .
